Terms of Service
Last updated: March 15, 2026
Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using xbook Cloud, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You may still self-host xbook under the MIT license without accepting these terms.
Description of service
xbook is an open-source tool that organizes your X (Twitter) bookmarks into folders, tags, and a weekly newsletter digest. xbook Cloud is the hosted version — we handle syncing, storage, and email delivery so you don't have to run your own infrastructure.
User responsibilities
By using xbook Cloud, you agree to:
- Maintain a valid X (Twitter) account and authorize xbook via OAuth.
- Not abuse the X API or xbook API through excessive requests, scraping, or automated access beyond normal usage.
- Not use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of X's Terms of Service.
- Keep your account credentials secure and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.
Intellectual property
The xbook source code is released under the FSL-1.1-MIT License. You are free to self-host, modify, and use the code for any non-competing purpose. The license converts to MIT after two years.
You retain full ownership of your data. Your bookmarks, folders, tags, notes, and any other content you create within xbook belong to you. We do not claim any rights over your content.
Limitation of liability
xbook Cloud is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to data loss, service interruptions, or unauthorized access to your account.
Service availability
We strive to keep xbook Cloud available, but we do not guarantee any specific uptime or service level. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any downtime or service interruptions.
Termination
You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, all your data will be permanently removed from our systems.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or engage in activity that harms other users or the platform. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking action, except in cases of severe or urgent violations.
Governing law
These terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of xbook Cloud will be resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction. Both parties agree to attempt informal resolution before pursuing legal action.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of xbook Cloud after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
